Keeping it together while traveling

posted by: The Trainers

I made a little trip to Syracuse yesterday to appear on a local TV show. As you probably know, traveling anywhere in the US by plane is now more difficult than ever-- delays, overbooking, all kinds of things to drive you crazy. But, because Derek is working so hard on his goal of losing weight, I was especially sensitive to the food in airports. I kept my eyes open for healthy meals and snacking options and I found-- nothing. Well, that's not entirely true. I was able to get myself a back of dried fruit and nuts in the Jet Blue terminal in JFK. But that was my final brush with health. I discovered items that were pretending to be healthy were all over the place, primarily in the form of wraps. Wraps are the devil's work. The wrap is self is major source of unneeded calories. So what do you do? Buy the wrap, eat the filling and toss the wrap itself? That's unlikely. So do you toss it all to the wind when you travel? What do you do when you have to travel by car, plane, train, etc? I want your suggestions and ideas. Keep 'em coming....

I think I have lost My Mind...

posted by: Derek

I woke up at 6am yesterday and headed to the Gym.  When I got there at 8am the Gym was full.  I thought I had beat the crowd but boy was I wrong.  After 30 minuets of good stretching and those dreadfull pushups I jumped on the Precore Step Machine and did 30minuets of sweaty cardio.  I thought I would then go to my first Class of Weight and Cardio and began that class at 9:30 to only last 40 minuets.. The Class was full of Women so I thought it was going to be smooth sailing.. BOY WAS I WRONG!!! I could barely move when I excused myself graciously and tried soothing my sore legs, thighs, feet, arms , neck, back, toes, eyes, ears,  tongue, knees, etc.. the SAUNA.  I felt a little better after being woken up in the sauna after falling asleep for about 30 min.. boy was that stupid..

I was now off to work an overnight flight to hopefully finish by 4am.  When I made it home around 6am I was so tired that I passed out and woke up around 3:30 pm and was in so much pain that I had to give Michael and Lawson a call for HELP!!  Michael answered and after his hysterical laughter he schooled me on just what to do.  One can only laugh at what I had done but Michael told me to never doubt the strength of a WOMEN. (they do give birth ) meant.   I have now given my body the fuel it missed and took a nice brisk walk to loosen the tightened muscles and move on with this great Journey.. I love looking at myself in the mirror and seeing the change and there is definately a lot more to come..

Still noticing change... even though the wkend was tough!!!!

posted by: Troy

So this past wkend after the weigh in (I cant tell you how much I have lost... You will have to wait till the next episode) I was travelling everywhere. I went back to NYC to Long ISland then to Jersey, then western MA and back to Boston. This was from Firday afternoon to sunday afternoon. There was no time to work out which made me feel soooooooo guilty but I still ate well. It is hard going to BBQs and not even touchingthe meat!! Thank goodness one of the BBQs had my favorite... GRILLED CHICKEN!! So this week has been going well. It has been tough with all of the pre grad school work, DJing and Emceeing events, and doing promotions. I have done all this week so far and it Wednesday... OHHHHHH and I have my full time paralegal job. I have still made it to the gym and been working hard. I am sooo sore today which is AWESOME and I am going back again today. I have been using protein shakes starting this week. I have one about an hr before I go to the gym and only ones that say 100% WHEY... Thanks Michael and Lawson for the advice.

Well time for me to go... Oh ya Yannick stop looking so think in your pics!! I dont need you beating me!!

Thank you, Homies!  ...Also Known As friends, bffs, girls, peeps, you get the picture!

When I was in Miami, I lost weight!

Even though everyone was not trying to lose weight, everyone ate HEALTHY

Sure they could have had fries with their sandwich, but instead they opted for salad.

Mari, Taneisha, Ellie, and Nikea--I truly appreciate you doing this challenge with me!
